Who This Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the Skills mobile app and the Skills website at getskillsapp.com. In this policy, "Skills," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the developer of the Skills app.

Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@getskillsapp.com.

The Short Version

Skills is a local-first calisthenics video analysis app. You choose a training video, the app analyzes movement on your device, and the app stores the resulting skill history on your device.

We do not operate a backend service that receives your videos, pose data, analysis results, progress history, or app usage data. We do not sell personal data. We do not use your videos for model training.

If you buy paid access to Skills, the purchase is handled by the App Store or Google Play. We do not receive your full payment card details, and paid access does not change how your videos are analyzed or stored.

Data Processed On Your Device

To provide the app's core features, Skills may access and process the following information locally on your device:

  • videos that you choose to import into the app;
  • video metadata needed for local playback and analysis;
  • pose landmarks, movement timelines, detected skill segments, repetition counts, hold durations, confidence values, and related analysis diagnostics generated from your selected videos;
  • local skill history, saved attempts, and app settings created while you use Skills;
  • purchase or entitlement status used to unlock paid features or restore access, if you buy paid access through an app store;
  • exported videos or images if you choose to create an export.

This information is used to make the app work: importing videos, running local AI analysis, showing the skeleton overlay, measuring attempts, saving progress, and letting you review or export your own results.

Data We Collect

We do not collect your videos, photos, pose data, body movement data, fitness progress, local skill history, app usage events, advertising identifiers, precise location, contacts, or device identifiers from the Skills app.

The Skills app does not currently include developer-operated cloud sync, user accounts, ads, third-party analytics, tracking SDKs, or remote AI processing.

The Skills website does not use advertising cookies or analytics scripts. Apple, Google, GitHub Pages, your browser, your mobile operating system, or another platform provider may process limited technical information when you download the app, visit this website, receive updates, submit crash reports, or use platform features. Their processing is governed by their own privacy policies and settings.

Purchases And Paid Access

Skills offers paid access through an in-app purchase that unlocks app features. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play. We do not receive your full payment card number, bank account information, or other full payment credentials.

The app may receive purchase and entitlement status from the store so it can unlock paid features and restore your access on the same platform. Apple or Google may also provide us with developer reports or transaction records needed for purchase fulfillment, support, refunds, accounting, tax, security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

The local privacy design is the same for free and paid users. Paid status is used to unlock features and restore access; purchase information is not combined with your local videos, pose data, movement analysis, or skill history. Those training records stay on your device unless you choose to export or share them.

Sharing

Skills does not share your local videos, pose data, movement analysis, skill history, or app usage events with us, advertisers, analytics providers, or model-training systems.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share personal data for cross-app tracking or advertising.

If you choose to export a video, save a file, use the operating system share sheet, send a support email, or manually share content with another app or service, that sharing is initiated by you. The destination you choose handles the shared content under its own privacy policy.

Storage, Retention, And Deletion

Videos and analyses saved in Skills are stored locally on your device unless you choose to export or share them. They remain there until you delete them in the app, delete the app, erase your device, or your operating system removes the app data.

Because we do not receive or store your app data on our servers, we usually cannot access, recover, or delete your local videos or analyses for you. You control that data on your own device.

Device-level backups, such as iCloud or Android backup, may include app data depending on your device settings and platform behavior. Those backups are controlled by your operating system account, not by Skills. Skills does not currently operate its own cloud backup service.

Store-provided purchase records and support emails may be retained as needed for customer support, purchase restoration, refunds, accounting, tax, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and ordinary business records.

Permissions

Skills asks for access only when it is needed for app functionality. For example, the app may use the system video picker or media access permission so you can choose a training video, and it may request permission to save an export if you ask the app to create one.

You can change app permissions in your device settings. Some features may stop working if a required permission is disabled.

Security

Skills reduces privacy risk by keeping analysis local and avoiding unnecessary data collection. Local app data is protected by the security controls of your device, including the mobile operating system's app sandbox and any device lock, encryption, and backup settings you enable.

No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure. You should protect your device with a passcode or biometric lock and be careful when exporting or sharing videos that may show your body, training environment, other people, or private surroundings.

Children

Skills is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because app analysis stays on the user's device, we do not receive videos or analysis data from children through the app.

If a child uses Skills on a family device, the parent or guardian is responsible for supervising use of the app, local videos, exports, and device sharing settings.

Your Choices And Rights

You can choose which videos to import, whether to save analyses, whether to export content, and whether to delete local app data. You can also uninstall Skills to remove app-managed local data from your device, subject to your operating system's backup behavior.

If you contact us by email, we will use your email address and any information you provide only to respond to your request. You may ask us to delete support emails you have sent to us, unless we need to keep them for a legitimate legal or security reason.

You can restore or manage paid access through the App Store or Google Play account that handled the purchase. Refunds, family sharing, and other store-level purchase controls are handled by the relevant app store according to that store's rules.

Future Features

If Skills adds optional accounts, cloud sync, human review, remote coaching, crash analytics, or any other feature that changes how personal data is collected, used, shared, retained, or deleted, we will update this policy before enabling that data flow in a public release.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes or as legal, platform, or store requirements change. The effective date at the top of the page shows when this policy was last updated.
